New project announced!
“There is something rotten out there, and it isn't from Denmark.” - John Keel
Writing a book on the unexplained requires a certain leap of faith; for the rest of one's life, you will wear that decision into every job interview and social interaction, and even the most open-minded individuals will still judge you.
I'm pleased to say that the enthusiasm and feedback I've received for A Trojan Feast has exceeded anything I could have hoped, and reinforced my hunch that getting involved in this field was a good idea. I've been blessed to have met so many incredible people since this new journey of mine started, and the opportunity to interact with such kind folks as Red Pill Junkie, Patrick Huyghe, Micah Hanks, Seriah Azkath, and Michael Hughes (to name a few) has enriched my life a hundred fold. It is with extreme excitement that I announce my follow-up book to A Trojan Feast, an untitled project that will look at the underlying similarities and issues behind Fortean smells.
Spoiler alert: sulfur plays a part.
In many ways, this is going to be a very, very different project, structured differently and branching out in a hundred different directions. Instead of looking deeply at one subject (i.e. the offering of food), this book is going to take a hard look at the myriad of issues implied by shared supernatural smells (and boy, I tell you—if I had any idea how broad this subject would be, I might have thought twice about choosing it...!). At the same time, for those who enjoyed A Trojan Feast, a lot of this is in that same vein. It's taking a look at something so many have thought inconsequential and turning it on its head, finding some clues about the nature of paranormal phenomena by examining what has been historically written off as minutiae.
And, like A Trojan Feast, this will look at UFOs, bigfoot, and faeries... as well as ghosts, black-eyed-kids, and a ton of other weird things thrown into the mix!
As of this writing, I've completed the fundamental research and finalized the outline for the book—after a brief holiday, I'll begin writing in earnest next week.
Onward and upward, says I!
